Marrying young, and more than once, life has been an adventure raising my sons and having a number of careers. Over the years I lived in Japan for four years, worked in offices, making my way up into management with Control Data Corporation. I was involved in Sierra Club wilderness programs, and taught mountaineering. I moved to Sonoma County in northern California 33 years ago, where I owned a wine grape vineyard and drove tractor and cultivated the vines, and supervised the pruning and harvest crews. I owned a Singer Sewing Machine dealership, where I sold and repaired sewing machines, gave sewing lessons, decorated the store windows, and had fun 'playing store" until I found it too confining. I became a paralegal, and had my own office services business. Then I became a reentry student for eight years, pursuing the education I'd long deferred.
